SSD’s will rapidly become cheaper in 2026 (around $30/TB or less) and by 2030 SSD’s will be lower cost per GB than spinning disks.

I predict that in 2026 we will see $30/TB SSD’s and by 2030 SSD’s will be less per GB than competing spinning disks. The primary reason to buy spinning disks will be for archival purposes and actually start to slowly actually go up in price as SSD’s continue to drop.

The only thing that I will reserve is if one of the crazy optical / holographic storage solutions comes to market (usually promising 100’s of TB of storage for an unknown amount cost) — though I seriously doubt those technologies will even be ready by 2035.

Also it is weird to think about tech by 2035. Even though it is 2024, 2035 seems so far in the future… very uh, futuristic. Will we have flying cars by then?
